The University of Pennsylvania Sport Club Program currently includes 37 University student organizations that are recognized by Campus Recreation. The clubs fall under the direction of the Sport Club Council (SCC) and the Campus Recreation department. All of the programs that are offered are constructed to serve the interests of Penn students through various sports and recreational activities, and may be competitive, recreational, and/or instructional in nature.
The Sport Club Program is open to all Penn students (though there may be eligibility and fee stipulations for graduate students) and currently serves approximately 1,200 participants. Most clubs compete at local, regional and national levels depending on their league requirements and/or affiliations. The involvement and commitment of the student athletes are based upon the individual club’s structure.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a Sport Club and Intramural Sports?
Intramural Sports offer recreational activities for Penn students to compete in leagues and tournaments against other teams of Penn students with no required practices and a lower level of commitment. Sport Clubs offer opportunities for Penn students to practice their specific sport 2-3 times per week, and many times they compete against surrounding schools within their designated league or at regional tournaments and national tournaments.
How do I get involved in a Sport Club?
Contact the club(s) you are interested in to find out details such as when team meetings, tryouts, or practices are held. It is solely up to the individual club to determine how and when new members are able to join. For any problems contacting a specific club, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
What do I need to participate?
A participation waiver needs to be completed prior to participating in any Sport Club activity. This form can be found on the Sport Club Participation Waiver page. Prior experience in the sport, sporting equipment, and other needs will vary according to club.
